Achimota SHS Board must be dissolved for taking appeal decision without consulting AG_ Kofi Asare

According to Kofi Asare, a renowned Education policy analyst, the decision to disagree with the ruling of the court and hitherto file for appeal by the the Board of Governance of the Achimota Secondary school should have been be done in consultation with the state Attorney General.

He posted “For taking that decision without consulting the AG, the Achimota Board must be dissolved. That must be the preamble for sanity! ”

However, he trusts the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Edutwum to crack the whip and be firm this time.

“I hear the Minister of Education will be speaking tonight on Metro TV at 9:30 pm. I am confident he will do the needful by stamping his authority over these litigants.”

He is bent on his position that, The Rasta boys must be admitted with immediate alacrity taking effect from tomorrow!

We can be recall that Achimota School denied admission to some two boys who were placed in the school by the computerized school selection and placement system. GES issued a statement directing Achimota School to admit the boys but the school with support from the PTA wrote back to GES that they are not ready to let go off their school rules. GES latter withdrew it’s instruction claiming that it was an error. The parents of the Rasta boys took the case to court.

On 31st May 2021, around 2pm, the High Court gave it’s verdict on the case. The court instructed Achimota School to admit the boys. This decision didn’t sink well with the Governing bored of the school. They issued a statement today disagreeing with the ruling of the court and stating their intentions to appeal.

Many have discribed their reaction as shameful, funny and  a waste of the court’s time! Because, of all the problems we have in this country, this is what some group of people are keen on making happen.

Others also think that enough justice has not been done to the case and appeal is in order.
