PEDAGOGY TRAINING FOR UNTRAINED TEACHERS ON NSS 2022/2023 TEACHING MODULE LAUNCHED IN ACCRA
On Wednesday 30th November, 2022 the Chief of Staff of His Excellency the President, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, was the Special Guest of Honour at the National launch of the Pedagogy Training for Untrained Teachers on the National Service Sceme (NSS) Teaching Module.
In Participation were the Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Director General for the Ghana TVET Service, Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity, Deputy Director General Technical and Operations, Mr. David Prah, Director General for Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah,
Registrar for the National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai Poku, the Director for the National Service Scheme, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi and host of Deputy Directors and Management Staffs from the Ministry of Education and it’s Agencies.
The theme for the program; Enhancing the Capacity of Personnel, is to improve learning outcomes aimed at building the capacity of National Service Personnel (NSP) deployed to schools for their mandatory one-year National Service with some basic teaching skills.
In Her address, the Chief of Staff, Hon Akosua Fremaa Osei Opare stated that Education is a fundamental human right and critical tool for socio economic development. According to the Chief of Staff, achieving the full potential of education, requires strategic partnerships and innovative collaboration among key stakeholders, such as National Service Schemes and the National Teaching Council.
According to Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education, Ghana TVET Service & Ghana Education Service is providing orientation for the National Service Personnel and supported by the National Teaching Council by making sure that National Service Personnel enter the classroom with some skills and support Teachers, this will help the personnel to succeed and be involved lesson plan efficiently.
The model is the first of it’s kind and will go a long way to lay solid foundation for Ghana’s socio-economic development.
