RE: DEATH OF A UCC STUDEN
Cape Coast, September 30, 2022: The attention of Management of the University of Cape Coast has been drawn to the content of a fake story circulating on social media regarding insecurity on campus as a result of the death of a student.
The University wishes to assure our cherished stakeholders as follows:
1. Notwithstanding the fact that few robbery incidents occurred weeks earlier in some surrounding communities where students reside, there is no iota of truth in the rumour circulating that a student has died on campus. The claim of insecurity should therefore be disregarded.
2. Management, by this notice, is imploring students and the general
public to avoid giving credence to the false publications circulating on social media as they feed into creating unnecessary fear and panic that only benefit faceless individuals seeking to tarnish the image of the University. The University wishes to assure the University Community and stakeholders that the situation on campus is calm and that academic
and administrative activities are going on smoothly without hitches.
4. The general public is further assured that the University, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has increased security presence on campus and within the surrounding communities through patrols.
